Fosters Finance Division

Case Study: Fosters - Finance Division

Fosters - Assisted the Finance team within Fosters to improve their leadership effectiveness by applying emotional intelligence skills.
The Challenges

In 2003 CUB, the brewing arm of the Australian-based multinational, identified six key areas for development within it’s finance division, which was known for it’s strong technical skills but was struggling to have a broader, more strategic impact on the wider company. Specifically, they the wanted to achieve the following:
  • Improve their level of influence across the Fosters organisation
  • Become a group of leaders who could articulate a compelling vision
  • Take the intiative and assert themselves in interactions with other departments
  • Improve their negotiation, conflict & stress management skills
  • Improve their confidence in presentation skills
Actions Taken

Implementation of our 7-Step Leadership Development Program.
  • Initial introductory seminar.
  • Each individual was then asked to complete an ECi assessment, both a self report and a 360° report.
  • Individual feedbacks sessions were conducted to explain the specific strengths & training needs of each participant.
  • Online EQ modules provided a step-by-step guide for acquiring the skills & competencies needed to use emotions and leadership more effectively in the workplace.
  • Each participant was then provided with 8 individual coaching sessions over a period of 6 months.
Results

Program participants were asked to score themselves “Before” and “After” against a range of behavioral areas. On average a 28% increase in performance was recorded. Within this 66% of respondents claimed in excess of 20% improvement. Only 1 respondent claimed less than 10% improvement. 25% of respondents claimed over 45% improvement

“The feedback I am getting from my people is that they see great value in the EQ Programme in their own professional development”
